Swiss School Launches World’s First Student-Created Metaverse

Institut auf dem Rosenberg, a renowned Swiss boarding school celebrated for its cutting-edge educational practices, has unveiled the world’s first student-created metaverse. This innovative project, dubbed Rosenberg Meta, will premiere during Climate Week NYC and Art Basel Miami, showcasing the transformative power of technology and creativity in education.

The Rosenberg Meta: A Digital Revolution in Learning

Designed by students aged 6 to 18 in collaboration with Studio 697 THz, Rosenberg Meta is a virtual ecosystem merging analog teaching methods with digital innovation. This metaverse serves as a platform for student projects across humanities, sciences, and arts, offering a tangible application of Web3 technology. Visitors are transported into a vibrant virtual world featuring:

  • Sustainable Floating Societies: Highlighting themes such as global awareness, human rights, and advanced technologies.
  • Collectible Digital Art: Featuring 117 unique digital artifacts created by students, set in immersive environments.

The project not only amplifies classroom experiences but also connects students with industry leaders like MIT, UC Berkeley, and ABB, emphasizing collaboration and real-world applications of emerging technologies.

A Vision for a Sustainable Future

The Rosenberg Meta champions sustainability, with its House of Fashion exploring avant-garde avatar designs and eco-conscious textile production. Proceeds from the sale of student-created digital artwork will support charitable causes related to environmental conservation, sustainability, and human rights.

Global Debut: Climate Week NYC and Art Basel Miami

The Rosenberg Meta will debut to select audiences during:

  1. Climate Week NYC (September 25-27, 2024) at the Climate Ring Art and Performance Exhibition, in collaboration with SwissNex and Studio 697 THz.
  2. Miami Digital Art Fair (December 3, 2024), featuring an AR activation presented by Blackdove during Art Week Miami.

Future plans include opening the Rosenberg Meta to wider participation, with features like town hall meetings and philanthropic auctions.

Empowering the Next Generation

Bernhard Gademann, President of Institut auf dem Rosenberg, emphasized the groundbreaking nature of the project:
The Rosenberg Meta is not merely a digital playground; it is a testament to the ingenuity and creativity of the next generation. By equipping students with resources to realize their visions, we are paving the way for a future where creativity, sustainability, and purpose converge.
