L’Oréal USA ‘For Women in Science’ Awards Five Post-Doctoral Scientists

The 2025 edition of the L’Oréal USA ‘For Women in Science’ (FWIS) awards recognized five outstanding post-doctoral women scientists in biomedical and life-sciences fields. The annual grants and career development program, which is the U.S. component of the global L’Oréal-UNESCO initiative, honored the recipients at an awards ceremony in the New York City area on November 13, 2025. Each awardee received a substantial grant of $75,000 to advance their critical research.

The 2025 cohort represents a dynamic range of research focus areas designed to create meaningful solutions for the world. Projects include the study of circadian rhythms and their relation to female fertility, the use of 3D bioprinting technology to model severe lung diseases like pulmonary arterial hypertension, and the investigation of complex bacterial communities (biofilms) for new medical treatments in microbiology. Other areas of focus included sensory biology and the impact of the natural world’s molecules on animal behavior.

The program’s commitment goes beyond funding research; it is explicitly focused on mentorship, networking, and career development to support women in attaining leadership roles in STEM. Since its launch in the U.S. in 2003, the L’Oréal USA FWIS program has supported over 105 women scientists, directly contributing to the goal of elevating female visibility and representation in research and technology fields.
