The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has announced the launch of the Women in Quantum Tech Accelerator, a major new national program dedicated to bolstering its advanced technology workforce. The initiative has the ambitious goal of training 500 female researchers and engineers in critical emerging fields, including quantum computing, quantum-safe cybersecurity, and quantum AI applications, by the year 2030. Operating under the strategic oversight of the UAE Council for AI & Advanced Technology, the program features high-profile international and domestic partnerships with key institutions such as IBM, ETH Zurich, and Abu Dhabi’s Technology Innovation Institute (TII).
The accelerator is structured to provide comprehensive support and resources to its participants. This includes crucial hands-on access to sophisticated quantum simulators, valuable overseas research fellowships to foster global collaboration, and dedicated funding specifically allocated for 40 women-led deep-tech startups focused on developing quantum-enabled solutions. This dual focus on talent development and entrepreneurial support is designed to build an entire ecosystem.
The initiative represents a strategic move by the UAE to address the surging global demand for skilled quantum engineers and ensure that women are positioned at the center of its long-term advanced-tech workforce strategy. By prioritizing investment in female talent within a cutting-edge domain, the UAE aims not only to diversify its economy but also to solidify its reputation as a global hub for inclusive innovation and technological leadership.
